Ric, I acquired a rather large external hard drive.  I transferred all the
files on my drobo to the hard drive as a copy and paste.  I then renamed
the new hard drive the exact name of the drobo.  The LR program the
recognized the files and proceeded: of course the drobo was disconnected.
