[Leica] Warning to iPhone users..... Thanks Apple......

I’m going to have to disagree here. I’m finding the HEIC files to be quite usable. I normally shoot with ProRAW though although I’ve been using Halide and saving both RAW and HEIC files.

I’m just not seeing what Frank is seeing. In my use-case these files are just fine.

I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max now and it’s RAW files are very nice.

I do have a quibble with some of the emphasis Apple applies in their internal pipeline processing - but I can also adjust some of that.

As always - it’s a personal call but for me the HEIC is fine.

Past times they snuck in ways to get access to your phone, changed the security features, added features for the 11-16 year olds, or otherwise change settings that you spent hours to find and get right. It was up to you to find these sneaky changes and fix them.

With some recent iOS update, Apple decide that you did not want nor need that anymore.... that their new and improved HEIC format is what you want.... so they set that in settings as the default.
