[Leica] IMG: on a gorgeous California winter day

So I was walking the dogs on an early Sunday morning when I spotted a neighbor with his binoculars looking at a privet tree. “Those look sort of like robins,” he said, “but I don’t think they are.” 

Avid birder that I am (not) I agreed they did look rather like robins. But there were a lot of them, at least a dozen almost certainly many more. I usually see robins solo, not in big groups.

So I went home and came back later with camera so I could snap some photos for identification.

Yep, it was an American Robin. You can see how much of an avid birder I am.

They were feasting on the berries of the privet:

Since the day was so gorgeous I stopped at a neighbor’s garden to capture a couple of the poppies being grown there:

Over on the UC Davis campus I came upon a multitude of squirrels that were absolutely fearless.

These were shot with my Sony A7Riii and the 100-400mm zoom and a 1.4X teleconverter.
