Nathan,

They are delicious, slightly nutty. A kind of cauliflower (brassica). 
Steam it as you would a cauliflower. But don't overdo it they can 
overcook quite easily. Serve with black pepper and a little olive oil 
(of course). Or perhaps a little mayonnaise.

I am always fascinated that they are (approximately) fractal, i.e. 
similar at all scales.
