I think it’s a wonderful, moody shot. What I find a little unusual, even unsettling, about the figure on the right is that he’s been caught by the shutter in that small slice of time when a walker’s foot is in front of him off the pavement, giving the figure some tension and an unstable feeling. It’s as though the viewer is uncomfortable seeing the walker remain poised like that. For me it’s quite a strong effect and one that I find fascinating, a tiny “decisive moment”.
