Of course, you only find out about problems with heating when the winter sets in, and with A/C when spring arrives. In our case, the oil furnace is invariably out of fuel when we need to start using it, normally in early December. Fortunately, the A/C units in our house are also heat pumps, so we can use those while we wait for the oil delivery (invariably, we discover the need on a Friday evening).
