I just bought a 2 slot NAS. I am putting on the 8TB Seagate Ironwolf
drives. ( NAS is a Synology).
The WD can be a bit cheaper. Some prefer WD, some prefer Seagate.
There was a big sale on 14TB drives recently, Sold for $219 each.
They are built to last a bit longer, running 24/7. Seagate Ironwolf and
WD Red are the tywo commonly seen drives. But HGST and Hitachi and
Samsung also make NAS Drives.
The big issue is to get the NAS qualified drives. Synology provides a
list of "certified" drives. I bet Drobo does as well.
Thanksgiving is around the corner, and that is the time to buy HDD.
They go on sale.
Buy whatever can fit in the box that is at the sweet spot of $$$ per
TB. $25 is the magic "normal" price per TB. ( 10TB = $250, 16TB = $400)
It has been $25/TB for over a year.....
