Scrambling through files, I found a couple of old photos I don't think
I've posted before.
I was a member here back when I was a kid - Half Moon Swimming Club on
the Great South Wall, Dublin - with an appropriate half moon behind it.
The Wall was once the longest sea wall in the world, back in the day.
Taken with a Nikon D200 a fair few years ago. Can be seen larger.

This is Gateway by Michael Warren, a deeply unpopular sculpture in Dun
Laoghaire before it was removed. Taken with a Nikon D200 in 2007. It,
and the grafitti, can be seen larger.

Of course, the reason it was unpopular with most of the public, and of
course the politicians, is because it wasn't sited properly. Had it been
in one of parks in the town, and away from clashing buildings and paint
splashing kids, it would have settled comfortably into the environment
despite its deliberately rusty looks. It appeared in 2003 and was
removed in 2009 to an audible sigh of relief. That said, Warren's other
work is generally well regarded.
