Greetings to all.  We begin with a native survivor plant; bluebonnets.
These are a volunteer bunch that grew from blown seeds or birds:

A true survivor, dandelions have gone from bloom to seed after the freeze:

A trait for survival in varied conditions is staged blooming and seed
times; some may get frozen or rained out but earlier or later seed stages
will help with survival:
