Actually the nightshade family has lots of edible fruits/vegetables. 
Potatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, to name a few.  And also one of the 
most deadly plants, tobacco.

The stuff getting in to my boxwoods does not appear to have any sort of
berry or fruit, but I have no intention of chewing on it.
