[Leica] Who would put the Q2 up against the 100/2.8 APO Macro?

I am pretty anal when I comparison test out a lens.......... so let me
point out the difficulty in coming up with a winner.....
The Q2 has a (fixed) 28mm Lens. 47Mp
The D750 is using a 100mm lens. 24Mp.... Different resolutions,
different FL lenses with different DOF. ( maybe using a Sony A7riii
would have equaled out the resolution issue)
The pictures are jpgs. Tough to figure out anything with a jpg. ( Not
that you had a choice......) raw pix are the best way to to compare.
You are imaging a small thing with attendant close focus, which means
limited DOF. The 28 and the 100 have different DOF on their own.
What criteria do you use to figure the "best"? Resolution? Color fidelity?
You can compare different resolution sensors.... cropping is one choice,
the other is pixel dropping ( like making one into a 8x10 print and the
other a 4x5 print). I prefer pixel dropping.
But, if you look at the 2 images as a comparison, ( which is what you
asked) there is no question of which is the "sharpest".... the Q2.
Why? because the DOF tells you it is "sharper".
I would take the bug out of the picture and shoot it at roughly
infinity.... 20 feet? 30 feet? to the focus plane. Compare the center.
where focus is best and DOF differences will not lead to (fake) focus
issues..........
Got any trees?
BTW, I really was blown away with the quality of the Q2...... a keeper
for sure.....
