[Bill Clough]

   Jessie Owens, four-time gold medalist in the 1936 Olympic Games, spoke
in the early 1970s before a group at Houston’s Shamrock Hotel. His speech
was honed and polished by practice and repetition yet still was riveting.
He was both a champion and a man of history.
