The collision between an MSC cruise ship and the Uniworld river boat “River Countess” brought our trip last autumn to mind.

Cruise ships have to navigate one of the large canals to reach the berthing areas.

This ship is relatively small.

Here the “River Countess” is about to be passed by an MSC cruise ship. This is NOT the site of the “River Countess’” collision on Sunday.

We departed on the “Seabourn Odyssey” a vessel of about the same size of the first one I showed. Here we’re looking down onto the “River Countess”.

There were 11 (!) cruise ships in port the day we left. Venice was crowded

We did love Venice. Our last evening we took a gondola ride. The gondolier was head over heels for Jan:
