Owning guns in TheUSA is not a measure of wealth, indeed some of these
people may use them to gather food.

Ditto old pickup trucks.  Distances are great here.

We saw the state of one guy’s glasses, he appeared blind in one eye and
nearly so in another.

Glasses..  lots of people make do with cheap reading glasses.

In a village, the community often provides what an individual can’t.  Our
poverty is different from what you’ve seen in the remote villages.

I know some people like this.  I can’t answer your questions.
