Hi Jim,
Great story. And you had your love to keep you warm!
We have a propane fired stove to cook on and
the wood burning stove for heat so we can last several days without
power. But I miss the internet a lot and must turn to reading books
and old newspapers.
Cheers
Howard

Great set of images to look back on when the weather is warmer.
My option for such occasions is a fireplace with gas logs, powered by
the local underground natural gas distribution system. My wife and I
insisted on this option after living through an ice storm at the end of
January 1951 at which time fallen, ice covered, branches caused a
week-long power outage in Mississippi and Tennessee.? We had been
married for a week, and were living in temporary college housing that
had been provided for returning veterans from WWII.? Fortunately, we had
a kerosene heater and a gasoline cook stove in the converted trailer.
