Every year the Eaton ranch drives a few hundred head of cattle along the
highway through the Yakima River Gorge from one feeding ground to another
for birthing. This year it was supposed to be today (Sat) but due to the
storm that was predicted, they moved it to yesterday. Good thing. As I
type today it is 21 degrees with sustained 30mph winds and gusts to 45 with
snow blowing around the house so I can barely see across the street. Wind
chill hovering around zero. Yesterday it was also 21, but no wind and no
snow. Here are a few shots.
They have about a 4 mile walk from where they enter the highway to get to a
resting/watering spot called Big Pines Campground.
Here is an album with some of those photos. View them large, please. I'll
direct you to a few of them.

The river was mostly frozen over, so they did not spend much time there
before they were herded back out to the road for the last 5 miles of their
drive to the birthing grounds. These are all pregnant cows.
