One more thing: the green fabric that the dancing women are wearing is
called shweshwe. While shweshwe is universal among the Sotho and Xhosa,
that particular green print is the received material for formal dress in
Lesotho. The US contingent (bride's people) bought a bolt of green
shweshwe and incorporated it into their own clothing. The train of the
bride's gown was Lesotho green shweshwe, and all of the bride's cousins
(male and female) had at least a patch of it in dresses, neckties,
chokers, or armbands. The bride's grandmother (my mother) made a purse
of shweshwe.
