[Leica] Photo-editing software recommendations?

Yes, speaking for myself, I am giving up something. For one thing, any new
cameras with proprietary RAW files will not open in version 6.xx. There are
all sorts of new tools, too. So far there has not been a new tool that has
tipped the scale for me, but some are close. If Adobe could give me
assurances that I will always have a working LR on my computer to work with
files on my hard drive I would make the switch, but I do not trust that will
be the case. Where I live, the internet speeds are not great. My upload
speed is 0.6 and download is 9.0. I have 56K images in LR and about 95% are
RAW. At these speeds, it would take forever to first of all get them all to
the cloud, then to work on them would be like pulling teeth.
I have invested a lot of time and effort and work into LR from version 1.
It took me till version 3 to really get the hang of the non-destructive
nature and master the fill handling power of LR, to get over my PS days of
multiple copies in different folders at perhaps various stages of work.
Once you get the hang of it, LR is a dream come true. It may not be the
best developer, or the best printer, but there is nothing that I know of
that does it all so well in one package and a reasonable price. I don't
want to spend the time learning something else. At 69, and not a
professional, LR is it for me. I don't want to left in a lurch by the whims
of Adobe.

Got it. Didn’t know if those LUGgers using 6 were giving up anything by not
going Classic. I guess they are!
