In the 90's they stopped demanding the kids all go outside for recess and get exercise catching baseballs and playing on the Playground Equipment .
They let them stay indoors all filling up the computer room all of them playing with their new favorite toy. Photoshop.
None of them played computer games. They all played with Photoshop with any image they could get their hands on. Mainly downloads. As did I in my studio.
It was years before I photoshopped a scan from one of my own images.
endless of fun. I started staying up late at night the best Photoshop time. Still do.
Popular with all the young photographers shooting cheap cameras. The ones with the expensive camera though were not going to waste their money and time on making images with expensive software.
They brought their memory cards into Walgreens.
More expensive the gear; less they care about the images which may come out of them. That’s a rule you can count on!

Primarily, there’s software that came with your camera.

Then Lightroom Classic CC (the other version is for kids on tablets) - a fully integrated suite that operates quite quite intuitively.

And if you want (mainly useless) horse power there’s photoshop. The leaning curve is then hymalayasesque, and I personally gave up …

OTT depending on the camera you use, you may also sometimes get better results with DXO, Capture One, On1, and a few others.

Let’s say LR is the swiss knife of them all and accepts plug-ins if needed

    Hope this helps
