When I was thirteen we moved to Germany in 1958 to a town named Wetzlar.  I
only had a Kodak Hawkeye at the time, but soon graduated to an Agfa
Sillette 35 mm camera.  It would be years before I bought my first Leica,
but the promise was there.  From my bedroom window I could see the Leitz
factory, and when I went to the camera stores, I’d look longingly at the
trim little Leica.

Here’s a view of my apartment building shot many years later with my first
M6.
