[Leica] SL redux, end of story

I have a A7 ( original) and A7II.  Both are outstanding bodies capable of things my Nikons never could do.... Having a EVF allows one to focus in near darkness, accuratey, even with lenses as tough as the Nocti or any of the fast 75’s made by Leica.  This feature alone is reason to purchase..  IBIS in the Mk 2& 3 versions is another.

You will NOT save weight.... The body is lighter than an SLR, but the lenses weigh the same.  When you add up a “kit” the difference will be marginal.

But will YOU be happy?

You know the answer.... every person is different... only by trying one out will you know....  

BTW, if you ARE going to buy one, get a A7RII or A7RIII.  Extra resolution ( for cropping !!! ) and in the case of the A7rII, not too much more expensive over the A7II.   ( A7 and MK 2 bodies use the same battery.  A9 and MK3 bodies use a different battery). Get an A9 for sports or maybe birds, the others for landscape or people.

If you would rather experiment before purchase, rent one ( or borrow).  After a weekend, you will know....for you.

PS: Doug has already responded, and indeed the menu system was designed by a non-photogrpaher..... probably one with a committee as the boss...  BUt you do get “used to” the system they gave us.  

The menu system has about 6 major choices, with 2-6 sub menus, and 6 or so menu items beneath that.   You will learn to hate it.

MY preference would be to make the entire menu system field programmable, by computer, so that each individual could have his own special set of menu locations.  Won’t happen.  If Apple can do it to phones, why not Sony to cameras?

Do you have any experience with any of the Sony A7 series cameras?
