Weight is the main thing against the f0.95, it feels more ungainly than even the 75mm Summilux. Also an oddity for focusing, it focusses fine on my M9 and M(240) but not on my MM. All other lenses, including f1.0 and 75mm Summilux, focus well on all three....

I was looking at the .95. I find that the new Noctilux and the new Summicron are more similar than the Summilux ASPH as far as the take-away look/feel that I get (not pixel peeping). I like the looks of the two former better than the latter.

I’ve always loved the idea and look of the Noctilux, and that was really what I was there to see. I figured if I was going to buy another Leica 50, I may as well purchase one that grabs more light, right? However, what I quickly found is that I think I’m going to be flummoxed by the 1 meter minimum focusing distance.

I have to admit, though, that I’m quite accustomed to using it at that less-than-a-meter range. Are my Noctilux dreams dashed? Do any older Noctilux lenses focus more closely? Should I just crop? Have I just saved myself a pile of money?
