Don, I can't answer precisely.  The long overseas routes appear to be 
modified "great circle" routes designed to keep the aircraft near 
coastal areas as much as possible and minimize long distances over open 
water.  ie, Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, etc.
