I would never trust SD cards or any other flash memory to keep data 
longer than a year or two.
I know how they work inside, and the storage mechanism is very delicate, 
sensitive to background radiation and random perturbations of the 
universe.

I did a presentation at NYLUG about 10 years ago about preserving 
electronic images. I probably ought to update it to reflect current 
technology, but the bottom line is that if you want to keep an image in 
perpetuity you should print it on good paper and keep the print away 
from light. If you want accurate preservation of color you should print 
RGB separations in archival black ink.

Everything electronic requires that you copy from an older medium to a 
newer medium every 5 years or so. Or every year in the case of 
SD/flash/SSD.
