Gerry,
Mostly I lurk, but still I am sorry to see you go. I wish that you would reconsider.
When I was a boy in the 1950’s my Dad gave me his old Rolleicord, and later his old Rolleiflex. The old Rollei is still working fifty years later. My Brother Brian has it now. It was very much a one size fits all camera. It met my needs for years. Later, when I was in college, I got a leica IIIc. That’s when I became addicted. I think that modern technology poses a real challenge for a camera group. There is no longer any such a thing as a one size fits all camera, and if you can not ask your family about something you have on your mind then whom can you ask? And, yes, at the end of the day the LUG is a family. One made up of a group of very talented and interesting individuals.
I do not think that that photography is about equipment. It has to do with light, and images, and composition to be sure. But when all is said and done photography is, like all art, about people and their experiences.
That’s why I stay. The people. I hope that you could see your way clear to doing that, too.
Thanks,
Barney
