They just spoil images of the horizon if it clear enough ;-)
We know a few people who have turbines on their land, they now pay more in tax each year than their their gross income used to be...

I was going to say, for the amount of electricity that will be generated at very low cost visual impairment of the horizon is minimal. When I went to Germany in 2005 for the launch of the M8 one of the fellow travelers was a Danish gentleman that made a nice living owning several wind turbines.
