John,  I've just had a look at your images from Malta - no inside stories on bombed journalists, nor reflections on foreign interference on Maltese domestic issues, so that was disappointing, but the rest were wonderful. I have to report that we have something in common with you in that we have someone dear to us who is Maltese: voluble and opinionated, she is our gardener. She strides through my horticultural hopes contemptuously kicking aspirational planting into the wide blue yonder. 
I sometimes wonder will I be left with ere a daisy. Is this a general Maltese trait, I ask?

Tonight was my birthday, so I celebrated with forty other people who didn't realise it was my birthday and enjoyed some of the finer wines from Bordeaux as the Bordelais vignerons still know how to make wine whereas the Leica cameraeons have forgotten how to make cameras. Thambar
- how are you?  In truth, it was one of the dinners for my Bordeaux wine club. Aside from the starter white, we had various reds, in this order,
'09 Ch. Milens, '98 Ch. Montrose, '98 Ch. Cos d'Estournel, then two sweet Sauternes a '76 Raymond Lafon' and finally '08 Ch. Rayne Vigneau. 
I didn't bring a camera, but I'd recommend the '08 Rayne Vigneau if you're a dab hand at a dexterous creme brulee and want to recreate a mise en scene of utter voluptuousness.
