Frank,

I think we mostly all agree i.e. LR is good, so long as it’s not too expensive, and as you still own your photos.

I’m currently using LR5 (stand alone by definition) but am limited to jpegs in my use of the X-T2 and X-T20. 

I tried LRCC but was not convinced of its merits as I don’t use the i-phone nor the i-pad for photos.

What you are saying regarding conversion below is precious. 

I’d hate having my original files on any cloud Philippe, I’d feel just as if I stored my film negs in the open on the sidewalk/pavement in front of the house …
But I may (always) change my mind.
