Thanks for bringing this resource to my attention, Tina. Site is S L O W but I suspect it’s getting a lot of hits right now.

I started using Appe’s Aperture program but moved to Lightroom after using both side by side for a while. Lightroom seemed to work better for me.

The whole cloud thing is great if you’re in the First World all the time and maybe urban. But the more I travel the less connected to the internet I find myself and the less useful any cloud-based application becomes for me. I’m hopeful that Adobe has sufficient competition that they will continue to embrace machine-resident software and data.

There are a wealth of alternatives to Lightroom now, some of them are becoming quite good.

Alien Skin’s Exposure X3 is promising.
Topaz Labs has Studio which is free and includes basic editing.

For the Mac side (and maybe Windows too) there’s

Luminar
Pixelmator

So there are alternatives. Both Apple and Microsoft are building some serious image processing libraries into their operating systems and mobile devices. This will push Adobe, I think. In fact from the looks of things it already has.

For now I’m happy with Lightroom and will give Classic a try. I use its keywording and organization tools a great deal - especially given Tina’s example. (Thank you Tina)

And now back to my image editing…
