Hi Jim,
I always loved taking photos of the Red Maples at peak colour. Then upon their dropping I looked for "leaf patterns" on the ground. It kind of eased the later raking it all up? :-)

Most years, this Red Maple is fully turned by October 31, Halloween.
This year, it is about three days late. But, on this Friday, even after
a rain shower, it is glowing. Here is a typical branch, shown against
the background of my neighbor's award-winning landscaping.
