Xtol makes iso 400 films look like 100 films.
Way better finer grain and way higher resolution. By a full film group.
Neopan 1600 film looked at least as good as the 400 films I used for years. Better than with any developer. By far.
100 films look like Agfapan 25 or better. Better.
It’s worth it. You need to check it out on the internet and use the right water. Or you get the heartbreak of Xtol failure. Which means you failed to follow Xtols little rules but perhaps it can happen anyway. It was nice to me.
I was lucky. Portland Oregon water worked for me. And that’s what came out of the faucet.
There is a rule that to get high acquaintance or high rez you are going to get more grain.
Xtol breaks that rule and for the first time in photo history. It is a breakthrough product.
And you could bathe in it and live for more than five minutes. Unlike Pyro.

I don’t have a large experience with Xtol, I’ve used for years ID11/D76. I’ve developed my two last films of Bergger Pancro 400 in Xtol Stock at the recomended time, but I’m unhappy with the results. I’ve used it in stock to get the shortest developing time and minimize the grain effect.
I would like hear your experiences with Xtol, I mainly use FP4 and HP5.
Thanks in advance
