I was beginning to feel confident that someone in the US could correct my
front focussing 90 Summicron (Canada). However, I got the following reply
from DAG Camera:
thanks for the test shots with your leica lenses, your Summicron 2/90mm
lens is slightly front focusing. I'm sure if you took a photo w/your
Summicron 90mm of an object 20 meters away the results would be severe
front focusing. Its easy to say that your 2/90mm lens is front focusing,
however if you took 10 M9 cameras that were correctly adjusted & shot with
your 2/90mm lens you might get at least 3 different results. Perhaps 3
lenses would give you front focusing, 2 lenses might give you accurate
results & the rest might give you something in between. That can happen
with lenses that are longer than a 50mm lens with the M digital cameras. I
would say that you would be better off sending your lens to Leica in
Germany. That way no matter how the results of your lens would be, you
would feel better about it.
I'm surprised M9 specifications are so variable. I told Don my M9 sensor
was recently replaced by Leica, so I am confident the accuracy of the
camera is within their specifications. Here are the test shots I sent him:

It's looking like I'd be best off sending the 90 Summicron to Leica
Germany, and that I might have to send my M9 too, for testing only, saying
that my other lenses are accurate with this camera so it is not to be
altered.
