I would also add that when you back up the photos be sure to back up the 
catalog.  If all you backup s the photos all you will have is the photos and 
all your work in processing them will be gone if something happens.  My 
photos are in the same folder as the lightroom catalog, so I backup the 
whole folder, catalog and photos.

Okay, here’s my KISS system

1. Import files from camera into LR and convert to dng

2. Apply titles and keywords to images

3. When a card is nearly full, back it up to a Drobo

4. Spruce up and export photos as needed
