From start to finish was quite a few hours, so lots of time to look at the people who were slowly gathering to view the eclipse at the Sumpter Dredge State Park. All was well with Dark Side of the Moon playing in the background. Everyone used either their glasses, the telescopes set up by some astronomers from California invited to provide some enhanced viewing, using their hands to make pinhole projectors, and of course a variety of photographers trying their luck.

I’ll start off with what I think is the best of the bunch, a quick grab shot during totality of some people watching the eclipse with the sun in the background:

The family that views the eclipse together has lots of fun and safe eyes.

The rest start here and go to the right. I’ll let you look through them on your own. Some looking or using cell phones through telescopes, some with cameras and some just enjoying the view. View them large if you can.

Such an amazing and fun event. Looking forward to 2024 in the eastern US.

Incidentally, photos of the sun itself were taken with a Nikon D750 and either a 70-200/4 Nikon with 1.4x or a 70-300 Nikon lens and one piece of Tmax-100 exposed film for a filter when needed. The people photos were with a Nikon D600 and either the Nikon 28/2.8 or a Rokinon 12/2.8 fisheye.

Comments welcome
