[Leica] IMG: this is VERY strange (OT)

Adam,

My feeling is that you over-thought the problem.  I shoot only RAF 
files, so I had to go to LRCC to adjust the exposure and convert to jpg 
in order to go into Photoshop.  I then increased the sharpness with 
Focus Magic.  As you can see, I have one large spot near the center and 
two smaller ones in the top right, all of which I was surprised to see.

I think you just got some extreme results from your selections.
