My Granddaughter Martha was sixteen several weeks ago. We could not go to her birthday party because my wife, who is a type I diabetic and a survivor of three bouts of two different kinds of cancer, was in the hospital with a seriously infected leg wound. My wife is healing, Thank God. This morning Martha came over for a visit and I finally got to give her her birthday presents, a purple teddy bear and a string of pearls.
