Our next adventure was to go behind the scenes with the crew of artisans
that is restoring the mosaic-covered dome of the Shah Mosque in Isfahan.  I
had no idea how this would be accomplished, but they have the exact size
and shape of a 1/16th section of the dome laid out on the ground and they
lay sections of mosaic tiles and grout them in place before taking each
section up to install on the actual dome:
