[Leica] M9 reliability question - from the Leica Website

I believe what you say, and it brought up a bunch of issues in my mind...
IF the only difference is the cover glass, how does the firmware know which coverglass is installed?
The new firmware must somehow be told, through some setting on the sensor module assembly which cover glass is in place.  Ie, they are changing the sensor assembly and modifying that new assembly in some (could be hard wired or a software setting) way to tell the firmware what glass is installed.

But I go to my final statement, you can not  tell that a new sensor cover glass is installed from the firmware edition.  Except v1.202 does not have the new cover glass...

I should state that my now broken M9 has no glass cover plate clips to hold everything together.  I was surprised.
