[Leica] Leicas and Cateracts

I've had both eyes done this summer. I elected for the monofocal lenses
and am glad I did, I've got friends who have had problems trying to use the
others.

I had worn contact lenses since the 60s (yeah, I know) and had added
reading glasses since age 40 (33 years ago, if counting). My late long
time friend and ophthalmologist was a Nikon shooter and he always joked
that I would eventually go blind and have to give him all my Leicas.

This year my current ophthalmologist diagnosed cataracts (an MD PhD and
married to my ex-wife's niece, also an MD) and we discussed the lens
question and whether to elect for correction to distance or near version.
I elected for distance and now after almost a lifetime of being near
sighted I am far sighted, but close vision is easily corrected with readers.

My vision is now remarkably clear - almost like I removed a light yellow
filter - and I need to get out and start shooting again, probably after my
last post-op checkup tomorrow.

I sold my Noctilux a long time ago because of weight and difficulty close
focusing. Will I now regret it?

Hope This Helps.
