Thanks for the kind words, Al.

The petal with the gold enhancement usually appears in the top 
position.  I have always assumed it attempts to entice insects to check 
it out, and, in doing so, they come in contact with the pollen on the 
center portion.  I am not an expert, so I can't offer the proper names 
for the parts of a flower.
