Jim,
The hot spots are a pain but can be dealt with in Photoshop, as George
said. I think the Fuji X is OK for infrared, but my conclusion is that
a tripod is needed. I have been trying Fuji IR with a monopod, but it
is f/2.8 and 1/15" in bright sunlight at best, so sharpness and DOF are
compromised. This is with a 720nm IR filter. One thing I have noticed
is that a pano tripod head (where you correct parallax) is really not
needed for landscape images.
