From the latest info I have seen from Leica, they will replace the sensor it for free. It will take a while; they must have quite queue of them. It may help if you include in the shipment to them an SD card with the picture showing the damage. I think some of their techs must be both blind and lazy, because my camera just languished there until I sent them an SD card with a picture showing the problem.
