Photoshop does focus stacking perfectly well.

file > scripts > load files into stack (use auto-align)

select the layers to be stacked

edit > auto-blend layers

The object being photographed cannot move, as far as I know, not a 
problem for me as I use stacking with a studio camera and an immobile 
object, an ancient coin.  Ancient Greek coins might require f/64 for 
proper DOF, which not workable with a lens optimized for f/11.

Again, as far as I know (not much), the bees are not alive (or are 
cooled into temporary immobility) unless a very specialized camera was used.
