Slightly surprised you have no woodpeckers in Ireland, Douglas. There are some on Anglesey where my daughter lives 20 or 30 miles from where you live. I have never been close enough to get a good picture. Here in Oxfordshire I have green woodpeckers feeding off ants in my garden from time to time.
