I'm not sure, as there are numerous easily climbed hills there which could 
possibly give you those views - if I remember correctly from my visits 
there. That said, I'm not sure of what he used.

You could certainly see hills there on last Thursday's stage of the Giro 
d'Italia which went through Tuscany from near Lucca to a resort near 
Grosseto.
