For Sale: Leica M8.2 complete

Leica M8.2, Black, model 10711, serial # 3556498, purchased new in December 2008. This camera was used on my trip to Cuba as well as for a lot of event and travel photography. The only mark on the camera is a faint, short scratch on the front of the top. The original plastic protector strip is still on the bottom. The VF is clear and the RF is aligned perfectly. The sensor is clean. The condition of this camera is Mint minus. 

    This is the improved model of the M8. It has a harder scratch-proof sapphire crystal LCD, optional discrete shutter release/re-cock, and viewfinder frames for correct viewing at 2 meters rather than at 0.7 M as with the M8. The Red Dot on the M8 is replaced with a more discrete black dot. The battery charger is smaller and more efficient.     The camera comes complete with factory packaging, shoulder strap, battery charger with two good batteries (one extra), 120- and 240 volt charging cables and one cable for charging using 12 volts in a car. There is also a cable for connecting to a computer via USB. Both the original instruction book and Capture One software than came with the camera is included. 

    Discrete, quiet, simple and a great feel in the hand. Why am I selling it? I have a Leica M Type 240 and am not using the M8.2 anymore. This camera should be used and enjoyed. This camera works well for almost all Leica M lenses. The exceptions are the Dual-Range 50mm Summicron and the 21mm Super Angulon which protrudes too far into the camera body. The Kodak 10 MB sensor is not full frame so the viewfinder is corrected by 1.33X. Therefore, a 28mm lens shoots like a 37mm, a 35 mm lens shoots like 47mm, and a 50mm lens shoots like a 67mm. I leave the 35mm lens on most of the time. Leica recommends using an IR-UV filter for best color rendition. (I have Leica IR-UV filters that should be left on each lens: 2 E-39, 1 E-46 and an E-55 for sale separately) 

    This camera was returned to Leica once for their special tune-up and maintenance servicing in 2012. There are no known problems except a small “coffee stain” that sometimes shows in the LCD. Unfortunately, Leica cannot repair this but it has absolutely no effect on images. As a photo shows, it is difficult to see. When the camera was serviced by Leica, the image numbering was reset to the beginning.
