When Ted talks about "kiss / click"
he's talking about reacting to a passionate feeling of "THAT'S IT!"

including recognizing:
compositional geometry
light
correct subject (for the story developing in his mind)
and even more.

Ted thinks it's "KISS" because he's honed the skills;
over decades;
one frame at a time;
on assignment;
even if given to himself.
