Its just when you see what she looks like a bit later on down the road it
gets pretty grim.  The  "after" shot. The plight of women in Afghanistan was
grim and got worse.
Sharbat Gula is from the Pashtun tribe which is the one which inspired the
Taliban on much of its repression against women.

Kodachrome 64 color slide film, with a Nikon FM2 camera and Nikkor 105mm
Ai-S F2.5 lens.
The lens I cut my teeth on. I shot everything with it my first years of
starting my studio.
