and for the reminder of those signs
used to see them on just about any country road here

was a time when there were signs in the winter saying "no chains" too.
we had a few sizes of tire chains hanging in the garage.
I hung on to them 'til the move this past fall.
always figured one or another winter they'd get me out of the driveway.
