[Leica] New M(240 firmware - 2/0.2.5)

My impression is that the "shot count" is a measure of the use of the
mechanical shutter parts. This would be evaluated against the expected
longevity of the shutter mechanism..... For example, there are 20,000
shutter actuations against a shutter that is rated for 200,000 actuations,
so it about 10% of life expectancy. OTOH, it would be not in my best
interest to purchase a used M240 with a shot count of say 1,000,000
actuations... the shutter mechanics would be mostly used up by then.

The measure of the electronics in terms of shot count is meaningless.

More to the point, if I am a still shooter, looking for a used M240, I do
not want a shutter with 250,000 clicks.... so I ask the question with a
purpose.... Is the shutter actuator counter reset by the upgrade of FW?

I thought they had defaulted to JPEG since M8 days? Shutter counts does not
matter so much with video abilities, I could take 100 stills but 1000 hours
of video and the latter is unknown....

JPEG?

An indication of who their target market really is?

On a more serious note,
By resetting numbering, does this then obfuscate the click count of the
shutter mechanism?

Just be aware that it resets numbering and defaults to JPEGs!
